IWR 2009, SECOND DAYSun anf good wind for the two races sailed today

On the second day of 19th Imperia Winter Regatta the weather conditions has been much better than yesterday, sunshine and good Easterly wind up to 12 knots allowed to sail two races for all the involved classes: 420 (open and female), Olympic 470 (male and female) and Laser Standard (male), Laser Radial (male and female).
More than 400 sailors coming from 14 countries (Algeria, Austria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, UK ) had to wait for the wind ashore until the early afternoon but after that time the race committee could fire the start of the first race of the series.
Tomorrow the closing day with the start of the first race of the day scheduled at 10.00pm.
Two races has been sailed for the 470 and Laser classes: the second one came to an end just before sunset.
In the 470 Olympic class the leader of the fleet is Siviz Kosuta/Farneti winner of both races of the day. Second and third in the daily ranking are now two German teams respectively Wagner/Scheufleur (2-2) e Bigaki/Steinborn (4-5).
The Italian team De Giacomo/Cicala (4-1) leads the female ranking.
In the other Olympica class Laser Standard Italian Giacomo Bottoli is now on the lead (2-3) followed by Hungarian Berecz (1-8) on second place and Italian De Paoli (10-1) on third.
The leader of Laser Radial is Hungarian Bakoczy (1-1).
In the 420 class three races has been sailed even if the first one had to be cancelletd because all the flee did non finished within the time limit.
The Italian team Maccari/Vitali won both the races keeping the leadership in the male category, while in the female the leader is Italian Wetzl/Parladori.
Tomorrow the end with the final races starting at 10.00am.
Races of 19th Imperia Winter Regatta will be managed by an International Jury (officials coming from Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Israel and Italy) while at see the Race Committe will be managed by Italian officials.
The IWR is an ISAF Grade 3 event.
